Today my day has started with surprises:) Astalakshmigalin kolam Asaravaikkum Kolam. What a perfect execition in creating the photocopies of the national flag and border (dolls). Neat handwriting, the hindi version looks like a printed one. I'm mesmerised by the main kolam. Guessing game, the whole world knows about my guessing talent :0 Bharthi, Pinky, Rani, Judy, Saras, RajamAmma, Jaya Maam.

Fabulous work! Beautifully made in bold blue and patriotic colors, and yes, as Vinci mentioned, lettering is nice too. My guess: I would go with most names from Vinci's guess, and would include Pavan and Deepu as well. ?? :0

Oh what a wonderful experience this was for me as I have always wanted to be part of Lakshmi's concept rangolis but never had time earlier. Yesterday afternoon I was in the koyambedu flower market buying flowers for my son's office event when Laks called me to say that she was making a concept rangoli and had surprise guests (Rajam and Jaya had gone close by to some relative's house and had stepped into her house on their way back). She wanted to know if I could join them at such short notice and I readily agreed. By the time I reached Laks's house (after my son left for work) they had already made the main central kolam and were filling the outside blue part of the carpet. My hands set to work immediately and I drew the bottom row of flags, while the top row was drawn by Rajam, I then helped Laks with both the tassel borders after which I filled the letters both in Hindi (written on paper by Bharathi) and English after Jaya wrote them with a matchstick. While we were at work, Rajam made us sing two lines of any patriotic songs that we could remember while she rendered a lovely very old tamil song. Rani in fact Laks was saying - if Rani knows we are all together she will get upset I did not tell her. But it was too short a notice for her to inform you as your house was too far away from her place. Thanks first of all to Rajam and Jaya for making that surprise visit to Lakshmi's house due to which I also got this chance to be part of such a wonderful rangoli - and thanks Lakshmi, Pavan and Raghu as usual for your hospitality.

When eight pairs of artistic hands join together, no doubt, a masterpiece is in the offing. Hope the leaders of the republic are as thoughtful, imaginative and hard-working as these great souls! We are certainly blessed to have a glimpse of this. Regards! - mOhana
