Looks very good for a first try Judy! You are not the first one to have the "sinking" problem. I'd received emails about the techniques not working from other people too. There was a time not long ago, when I'd stopped uploading rangoli on water, because I was sure the description wasn't accurate enough. I got the same results when I tried, but then again, my material resources here in America is not the same as the ones available in India. So, I'm going to post all of our experiences, from the different places, and this way, we at least get to see/learn about them! But, I'm sure we'll get the correct procedure one of these days.
For a picture taken from a mobile, I would say this is too good! :)
How about getting this design on a dupatta, I like the shape of this dish.
Judy/Lata,It is a good try Judy, have few tips
basically the powder should be evenly spread either by using the distumber or talcom powder make sure while spreading whole layer of water is evenly covered like a cloth. To do this u can use tea stainer .(try to avoid holes in between).then draw a design.Hope u can get it now.
