wow wonderful. These type of dotted kolams will help children to improve their attention and concentration. It is easy to learn because of the animation and they will be benefited out of it.

Beautiful animation! By the way, both the outer (7 x 2) and inner (5 x 2) basic designs are sona patterns. The outer one follows the design of my sona square except that the 90 deg rotated ones do not overlap as in my case. The inner design tracing is different from the outer sona, that is why we get the extra lines. I am not sure whether you intended the sona designs. I am very late in commenting. Congrats, rAjamMAjI for the sOnA finding :-)
Regards! - mOhana
My earlier comments may be a bit confusing. Both the outer and inner designs have the sOna type of dots (7 x 2 and 5 x 2, both relatively prime). For the outer one, the connections too are sOna-like, but not for the inner ones.

I prefer to look at this kolam at chittu kuruvis (instead of snakes - sending shivers down my spine after last night).. Lovely animation of a pretty kolam Lata - happy to see one after ages. Glad you are able to find time to make this for us once in a while (wonder when Anita is going to find some time to teach me how to make one - sigh!!)..
Jaya there are two places (one in MMDA near the market by our place) and another near Kodambakkam where there two trees that are infested with chittu kuruvis. Every evening by about 5 all of them start making such a big noise (must be atleast minimum 50 on each tree) before they settle down for the night. Wonder if I will be able to get a snap of this soon. In fact I have a snap of one sole sparrow when we visited Jaipur on 2009 - I will upload that snap in the cafe column as soon as I find it :)
Thanks everyone.
Ms.Prabha, I try to animate most of what I make for the same purpose that you had mentioned. Glad you enjoyed it.
Mohanaji, yes, the inner closed triangular stroke is the extra and different from the rest of the strokes. I got this design from one of the tamil magazine papers that my mom had given me 4 years ago. I don’t know the magazine name, but the name of the kolam was given as “Kannadi kolam” (mirror kolam), and the tag line mentioned that women used this design in kolam competitions.
Judy, thanks, I'm sure you won't take long to make one. :)
Enjoyable experience to see the animation. And finally popping up of birds.. Awesome..Love to copy and paste your open jaws here.
My little angel is amused to see the growing lines..
