Nice color combinations! Why don't u write a blog on choosing colors for kolams? Like any tips, thumb rules, would help us a lot.

Good colour. not a bad idea of shading the colours with pencils. the kolam also is very nice.

Preeti, nice mat design., Mamma putting rangoli filling inside dot squares and daughter filling it with color pencil... both are novel and worth copying. rajamma

Preeti the centre design is coloured really well but I feel that the outside green is a bit too dull in combination with the mustard - otherwise this is a nice kolam :) Naveena look up these links for tips done by JKM on colouring - http://ikolam.com/node/10792 and http://ikolam.com/node/10816 - I am sure it will help :)
