Quite a nice demonstration and learning experience! Is this not called mango leaf rangOli? I remember to have done some thing like this with the actual mango leaves in one of my mango leaf rangOlis.

You're right Mohanaji. This is the mango leaf rangoli. When I taught this to a few girls some years ago, their response was that it looked like a "whirly twirly flower". Also, there was no real mango leaf in sight to show and tell (in CA). And so, that's how the name came about (the e in the name was a mistake). I couldn't get back to this file for correctional/additional work. :)
