Great pic, Sumathi Ma'am.... Have seen Jackfruit trees here & there.... but this one is truly rare and so very informative... Thanks a lot for sharing it with us.....
Wonderful Sumathi!! I know how you must be feeling seeing this tree bear fruit - I witnessed it the first time our mango tree bloomed... Enjoy the yummy 'Mukkaniyin Oru Kani' ('Mukkani' means the tastiest three fruits that is Jackfruit, Mango and Plantain and 'Mukkaniyin Oru Kani' means one of the tastiest three fruits..
Sumathi, got any houses coming to the market in your neighborhood? I get tempted to buy a house in Chennai every once in a while, but my plan never materializes :(
Do let me know if you have any reasonable real estate agent in mind. :)
And, no I can't afford much. I don't care about the rooms, one room will do, I just need some space in the backyard, to grow a mango tree like Judy's, a plantain tree like Deepa's, a Jackfruit tree like yours, a Tulsi shrub like Lakshmi's, a mehandi and a curry leaf tree like my granny's. (Stop dreaming and go away you zambie, it is 12:45am already):)
That was great mukkani translation Judy, thank you (I like refresher courses in tamizh every now and then).
Lata, I was living in the house where I had a big garden, with Jackfruit tree, mango tree, plantain tree... all yeiding fruits. All flowering plants...jasmine, gundu malli, nithya malli, even Bramakamalam, Thulsi, mehendhi, curry leaf and what not!But due to a friendly neighbour I was forced to cut the trees and remove the garden( he was allergic of leaves falling in his plot and smell of flowers!). Now we have shifted to a flat to be with my grandson Neel. But what I miss most is the front yard where I could put BIG rangolis daily.mmm..(SIgh!)
Thats why u r forced to hear only my morning raagas and taste kitchen top kolams.
Dear friends I wished I could share the tasty fruits with all of you. Any way it was Judy's MAmaram pic which inspired me to send this picture. Thanks all of you for the comments.Every morning the first thing my husband would do was to have a look at the fruit ( Annanagar is prone to people flicking things from home)It was a wonderful transformation of a small bulb like fruit growing into a huge fruit. It is all Nature's creation, which we need to admire
