Heart and crow kolam and sparrow border are very nice!
dear friend simply super. can you tell me how to prepare maavu for makalom and how to draw (by hand or cloth?).
lovely maakolam n border birds r super!-suguna murugesan
Hi Vasanthi, to prepare wet rice maavu for the kolam, u have to soak rice for an hour or so and grind it to a fine paste. Dont use too much water while grinding, u can add water later on if required. The consistency of the rice flour should be like thick milk. Dip a small piece of cloth in this and applying slight pressure to your ring finger holding the cloth, start drawing the desired design. Hope this helps u out. if u have any doubts, pls feel free to ask me dear.

A lovely treat for us Pushpa. For me it looks as if the top little ones are rehearsing for a long flight while the elders monitoring their fly :). .
Have you used kaavi or brown podi?
pretty birdie kolam, Pushpa.
I am reminded of the class Rajam and I took for you couple of years ago to make maakolams and now you are taking class for a beginner - HATS OFF!!
Thanks Judy for the comments. What I received, I am passing it over dear (they are the same notes from the class u and Rajamma maam taught me). All of you encouraged me so much while I started off doing maakolams, I am doing the same dear.
