Alamelu though the centre design is quite common I just love the extensive fillers you have put all round your kolam, the outside border is beautiful - they are really pretty and gives added beauty to your cute padikolam :)

alamu ... cute kanya kolam... though its a woman's site exclusively,,, to admire beaute theres no limit. and the way this kanya kolam is designed, its a regular ones which we put in our home, the border design u have added is excel. jus take care to paint those kaavi n clear way..no hurry ... next time post the same kanya kolam with row of lights over the kolam, adds attraction... gud work keep it up

Very beautifully made! Nice little structures around the main design. :) I too would like to know why this is called a kanya kolam. Does kanya kolam mean a padi kolam? Is that a Telugu word by any chance? (the only "kanya" that I'm aware of is "girl").

It is written in one site lata that Kanya kolam is for devi. Tuesday and Friday we put this kolams and for kalyanam also we put this kolam and kalyanam there is two kanya kolams joined for sumgangali prathanai and also for kalyanam. Kalyanam inside where we keep the fire for pooja there we put this joined kanyakolam. i will draw and put in the site.
